Principal’s Monthly Letter In December 2024

Principal’s Monthly Letter

2nd January, 2025

Dear colleagues,

This month, our school has continued to make steady progress across various areas. Let us now take a moment to look back on the highlights and accomplishments of December. Together, we can celebrate the warmth and strength that this time of year brings.

TEACHING AND LEARNING:

Primary School: Both pastoral care and teaching progressed smoothly this month. On the pastoral care front, students have shown improved emotional management. In terms of teaching, subjects like Chinese, mathematics, and English focused on enhancing instructional quality through specialized research and project-based learning. Engaging events like Math Week and Chinese Week further sparked students’ interest in learning beyond the classroom. Additionally, students achieved excellent results in various academic competitions, showcasing their development in various fields.

Middle School: Pastoral care efforts were centered on collaboration among grade teams and homeroom teachers. Targeted initiatives strengthened connections between teachers and students, fostered a spirit of teamwork, and provided support for students’ physical and mental well-being. In terms of teaching, the junior school research groups focused on enhancing teacher competency, optimizing the curriculum, and deepening teaching and research activities. Team-building events further reinforced the cohesion of the teaching staff. Additionally, preparations for assessment and data organization are actively underway, ensuring that all teaching tasks for the term are well-supported.

SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT:

This month, the school made significant strides in various areas, including successful inspections on food safety, campus security, and mental health education. The new CCA curriculum plan for the next semester was developed, the course evaluation system was upgraded, and the “Parent Satisfaction Module” was introduced. In home-school cooperation, the school organized parent visits to the cafeteria and hosted activities during the Campus Open Day to strengthen communication and trust. Enrollment for G9 students is progressing smoothly, and party affairs activities, including an evaluation meeting, were completed. Additionally, parents and students from Bokai Haodifang Kindergarten visited the art exhibition, promoting inter-school collaboration.

STUDENTS DEVELOPMENT:

December was packed with vibrant student activities, including the launch of the “Around the World in 80 Days” Art Month, the concert in the Marriott Hotel, the “Old Shoes New Life” event, the Winter Concert, charity sales, and Qingge 3’s second outdoor training. These events added unique energy to the school. The Trivium New Year Dinner allowed parents to engage in the school’s community and experience its international learning environment.

Our students have excelled in a range of academic and extracurricular competitions. In English, students won top prizes at the ESDP2025 Shanghai Speech Season, and the primary school team advanced to the global round of the World Scholar’s Cup. In mathematics, several students won national first prizes in the Australian AMC competition. In Chinese, multiple students earned awards in essay and poetry competitions. Our students also achieved success in cultural and art competitions, such as the “Outstanding Organization Award” in the Liming Cup and top prizes in calligraphy. In sports, our team took first place in the 2024 Dart League, and basketball players did great in the Shanghai Student Games.

TEACHERS DEVELOPMENT:

This month, teacher development progressed well, with key achievements including the hosting of a municipal-level after-school service teacher training exhibition, featuring live class demonstrations by teachers Yan Ke-wen and Bu Xiao-lan. The teaching research team discussed holistic education and developed the OKR plan for the next phase. The primary school English group successfully presented a district-level project-based open class, and the Children’s Philosophy Project team completed their course framework and shared it at the 7th Children’s Philosophy and School Reform Forum.

Our teachers have achieved outstanding results in various competitions. Liu Jiaxin won a national third prize in the 2024 “SSP-Education Cup” English Teaching Design Competition, while Xu Leigang received an Outstanding National Instructor Award in the SPBCN International English Spelling Bee. Ma Lijuan earned an Outstanding National Instructor Award in the “Hope Cup” Essay Competition. Several teachers were recognized for their excellent guidance in the 2024 AMC Australian Mathematics Competition. We deeply appreciate their contributions to teaching and student growth.

SCHOOL QUALITY:

In December, the school enhanced food and campus safety management through self-assessments and inspections. The cafeteria introduced a popular “Australian Cuisine” themed meal and improved the buffet setup to reduce waiting time. Health services included submitting vision data to the education bureau, completing medical insurance submissions, and providing first aid training to staff, ensuring all relevant personnel are certified.

NEW CAMPUS:

The construction of the Lanxiang Lake campus is progressing smoothly, with interior finishing underway and exterior work nearly completed. Electrical installations are being finalized. The school is planning a visit for the parent committee around the Spring Festival to discuss project progress and relocation plans.
