赛事介绍 

Introduction to the Competition

加州伯克利大学数学挑战活动(初中)(mini) Math Tournament at Berkeley (BmMT) 是由加州伯克利大学数学学生社团举办,面向初中生的团队数学活动。加州伯克利大学数学挑战活动(初中)利用有趣的“团队数学挑战活动”的方式来促进初中生的学术成长,并强调诚信以及着重培养团队协作能力,为学生提供了一个全面的、愉快的、有教育意义的数学学习机会。

Math Tournament at Berkeley (BmMT) is a team math event for middle school students organized by the University of California, Berkeley Math Student Club. It provides students with a comprehensive, enjoyable, and educational math learning opportunity that promotes the academic growth of middle school students through an interesting“Team Math Challenge”that emphasises integrity and teamwork.

本届BmMT是历年来规模最大的一届,总共有856名同学组建的177支队伍在中国参赛,美国地区有1000多名学生共享赛事。比赛区别于常规赛事重点突出团队协作,设置有个人挑战赛、团体挑战赛、团体解谜挑战赛、团体接力挑战赛。

This year’s BmMT is the largest in history, with a total of 177 teams formed by 856 students participating in the competition in China, and more than 1,000 students in the United States sharing the competition.

Different from the regular competition, it focuses on teamwork, and there are individual challenges, team challenges, team puzzle solving challenges, and team relay challenges.

团队挑战是这个比赛的焦点,数学不仅仅是孤独的求索,也是同心协力思考后迸发出的思维火花,更是灵魂被数学唤醒后如琴弦般的共振,奏出旋律,备战的过程是值得赞颂的,结果也不负苦心。

在团队挑战和团队接力赛中,我担起攻城拔寨的重任,为团队攻坚出了最后的几道题目,我感受到了团队信任的力量。在参加比赛的过程中,认识了很多同样对数学有着极度热爱的小伙伴,我想这才是比赛的真正价值所在。

Unlike conventional exams’ solitariness, the BmMT Challenge flourishes in open collaboration. It instilled teamwork’s potency: mutual support, convergent strengths, collective goals. This ethos will indelibly shape my journey.

In the challenge, our team—data virtuosos, logic strategists, innovators—transmuted skills into cohesive momentum, surmounting hurdles. Teamwork is symbiotic power: like a forest, our unified puissance eclipses any solo effort. I’ll imbue this into all pursuits, achieving excellence through synergy.

In the competition, a meticulous division of roles ensured full participation for every member, eliminating any dissipation of human capital. This endeavor has impressed upon me that mathematics is far from a solitary odyssey; rather, it is the collective radiance of wisdom emanating from a cohesive team.

Participating in the evening Math Carnival has profoundly impressed upon me that even within the realm of games, one can temper mathematical literacy and hone the edge of critical thinking. As the adage goes, “Interest is the best teacher.” In the future, I will diligently seek the intersections where mathematics converges with life, allowing the radiance of rational thought to continuously illuminate my path of self-improvement.

The most exciting moment on the field is not when we work out the answer, but the picture of our team of five people huddling around the table for a “brainstorming” session. In the “noisy” discussion, the originally daunting problem was cleverly “broken down”! It turns out that mathematics is not about one person’s “stubborn struggle”, but a process of complementing each other’s strengths and colliding with ideas.

Message From Teachers

Thank you to all the students for your focus and perseverance throughout the preparation and competition. This was more than just a contest, it was a valuable journey of embracing challenge and enjoying the beauty of mathematical thinking. It showcased not only your academic strengths, but also your efficient planning and strong sense of teamwork.
